Windows Are Here!!

Cor, you miss a few days at work and it all kicks off!! The windows people arrived today to fit them, but I had to get back for Dave (he's had a knee op, for those who don't know, and is not allowed to walk so I have to be his nurse! Eeek) so I checked the delivery, then watched just the one ickle window go in! Awesome.

House looking gorgeous - note blue sky (hee hee - sorry UK folks)

Our bathroom window in! Yay! Can't wait to get there on Monday and see 'em all.....
(its frosted glass, in case you was wondering)

Spooky!

Whilst working on the scaffolding today I noticed what looked like an old chap working in the field next to the barn. Had a bit of a panic when I realised he wasn't moving, then grabbed the camera for what is my very first simulacra!! (inanimate objects that resemble animate ones) On closer inspection it is just a fallen branch covered in moss and brambles, but how real does it look?!

Fire!

Well, we decided after much discussion to "control burn" the small copse behind the barn (it's just brambles and stuff and totally blocks the view from the back) rather than cut it all back cos it was taking ages. Dave decided to start it using petrol (he's such a bloke) and did a small test on a pile of dry stuff we had in another pile. Using probably enough petrol to run my car for a week. "Don't worry Kate, it never goes up like in films you know" WHOOOMPF. Oh yes it does. Just like "Backdraft" in fact. Luckily, he only singed his hair and eyebrows a bit. Just enough for us all to poke fun for the whole day! Ha!

The copse halfway done

Kate doing some work! Staining the wood on the roof

Another window hole appears - yay!

Windows & Doors & Holes!

This week we are been mostly lounging by window/door holes! They look sooooo good! Even better when they get their door/windows in.

Dave being superman though the kitchen window.

Hello!

Not impressed with Dave's pratting about.....

But much more impressed with the doorway into the extension!

Kitchen!

Having spent approximately 6 hours (yes really) in Ikea collecting our kitchen today, it'd better be right! I never thought I'd say that it was hell in Ikea ever, but if I never had to go back? I wouldn't cry too much. Big big thanks to Barbara (she hitched a lift to get some saucepans) who went above and beyond today - if it wasn't for her, it woulda been 4 trips in and out (and queueing too) with tons and tons of kitchen units instead of just the 3...... Thank you B!

Eh-Oh!

Teletubbies, teletubbies, say eh- etc etc..... Good god, as if geting muddy and stuff wasn't bad enough, we have to re-enact the fat version of Avatar???? Ok, so it was our "CSI - Cras" suits for putting up the insulation (better than getting all itchy), but there is a limit.....

What we did the other day (clap ourselves on back):

Oooh, oooh, our wood burner is here! (courtesy of the great big enormously grubby van of doom)

Kitchen Window....

Look, look, Clive has cut out a hole for the kitchen window! Its fab.

And look from the outside - its gorgeous there too!
